This project for the Municipal Public Market of Blumenau ranked as a finalist in a national architecture competition sponsored by the Institute of Architects of Brazil, standing out among more than 90 competitors. The competition called for proposals for the renewal of the existing public market, with the intention of improving its integration with the famous German culture tourist center of Blumenau, where the traditional Oktoberfest is celebrated every year.
Besides keeping the typical functions of a public market – with facilities for groceries, bakeries and butcheries –, the project also includes spaces for cultural activities and entertainment, including exhibitions and folkloric events. The ground floor concentrates the commercial activities, while the upper floor offers exhibition spaces for handicraft and traditional cuisine, as well as a restaurant and panoramic bar.
