This project received an Honorable Mention in an international architectural competition sponsored by the Peruvian developer ESPARQ, among more than 150 projects designed by architects from 40 different countries. The competition brief called for design proposals for an office building for high-tech and IT companies, to be built in Cocos del Chipe Business Center in the city of Piura, Peru.
One of the most challenging aspects of this competition was the fact that Piura is the place most affected by the El Niño climatic phenomenon in the whole world. This means that most of the year the place is extremely dry and hot, but during the monsoon season, violent storms and sudden temperature drops occur. The building has to respond dynamically to these climatic changes, while still providing environmental comfort through sustainable means. The project’s modularity also offers great flexibility for the occupying companies, allowing for efficient adaptation and changes in internal lay-out.
